Dear Colleagues,

One of the strategic and logistical tasks of the state, in the event of a declared state of emergency caused by a sudden and large-scale disaster, terrorist attack, or state of war, is to secure the necessary supply of blood and ensure targeted distribution of blood products.

Health services of armed forces worldwide face the same challenge, as blood and blood-derived products require special conditions for transport and storage and have

very limited expiration dates.

The issue of potential crisis situations is highly topical, with a significant

impact on healthcare systems and the need for their readiness — not

only to ensure medical care for the civilian population, but also to meet

the needs of deployed armed forces in the form of providing hospital

beds, supplying medicines and medical equipment, and also blood.

The theme of this year’s conference will therefore focus on crisis

situations, with particular emphasis on blood supply and transfusion

products in emergencies of all kinds, and on the state’s crisis blood policy.
